Project Overview

I led the design efforts for Te Pūkenga, New Zealand's largest vocational education provider, to launch their new website alongside a major marketing campaign. This initiative followed the Government’s announcement of the merger of the country’s sixteen Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics into one unified organization.

Challenges
A key challenge was ensuring the website’s design aligned with the new brand elements. Discrepancies between the visual language on marketing materials and the website could negatively impact user perception. Additionally, we faced tight deadlines to coincide with the marketing campaign launch.

Key objectives

Educate Existing Students: Provide clear information about the merger and its implications.

Guide New Learners: Offer detailed information on available courses and study options.

Assist Employers: Supply relevant information for recruiting new graduates and arranging internships or apprenticeships.

Enhance User Experience: Integrate an AI-powered tool to help users quickly find relevant information through a series of guided prompts.

Approach

Design Alignment: Worked closely with the AI tool team to ensure design consistency and reuse components where applicable.

Efficient Solutions: Addressed tight deadlines by repurposing existing components from a design library provided by developers. This approach reduced the need for new component creation while adhering to brand guidelines.

Content Library: Developed an extensive library of over 21 UI element groups, each with variations. This facilitated a cohesive design and streamlined onboarding for future designers.

Results

The project was successfully completed within the tight timeline, with effective design practices ensuring the new brand was communicated clearly. The website provided valuable information to its audiences, aligning with the new brand guidelines and supporting the marketing campaign launch. For more details or to discuss this project further, please feel free to reach out or request a detailed presentation.
